Twitter has suspended more\u00a0than one million accounts a day in recent months to reduce the flow of misinformation on the platform. The company suspended more than 70 million accounts in May and June and the pace is reportedly continuing.<\/p>\n

Twitter confirmed the rout, saying it was removing 214 percent more accounts on a year-on-year basis for violating its spam policies.<\/p>\n

This follows revelations that social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook have been under scrutiny from US lawmakers over fake news and identity accounts.<\/p>\n
