Australian-based communications equipment maker Netcomm Wireless has revealed it has been hit with a statement of claim by Corning Australia concerning equipment it is supplying to NBN Co.<\/p>\n
Corning is claiming that Netcomm’s distribution point unit NDD-4100 gear, used in NBN Co’s fibre to the curb rollout, infringes an Australian patent recently obtained by Corning.<\/p>\n
Netcomm has told the ASX it believes the Corning patent is invalid for “numerous reasons” and that it believes the NDD-4100 does not infringe the patent.<\/p>\n
“Netcomm Wireless regards the claims made by Corning as lacking merit and will vigorously defend the claims made against it,” the Netcomm statement says.<\/p>\n
It adds that Netcomm has already discussed the matter with NBN Co, which has confirmed that Netcomm’s contract remains in place and that the company remains the preferred supplier of VDSL DPUs to NBN.<\/p>\n
Netcomm shares closed at $1.10 on he ASX yesterday, up two cents on the day. The shares are down from a high of $2.31 last November.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
