{"id":90473,"date":"1999-12-31T00:29:00","date_gmt":"1999-12-30T13:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/smartoffice.com.au\/new-guide-launched-to-help-businesses-stay-smart-online\/"},"modified":"1999-12-31T00:29:00","modified_gmt":"1999-12-30T13:29:00","slug":"new-guide-launched-to-help-businesses-stay-smart-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.strixdevelopment.net\/smartoffice\/1999\/12\/31\/new-guide-launched-to-help-businesses-stay-smart-online\/","title":{"rendered":"New Guide Launched To Help Businesses Stay Smart Online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stay Smart Online Week, raising awareness about the importance of online security, is underway, with a new guide to help owners and operators of small businesses protect themselves against cybercrime launched today.<font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">Developed by the government in collaboration with Australia Post, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, the Commonwealth Bank, National Australia Bank, Westpac and Telstra, the guide is designed to help small businesses set up basic online security practices. <\/p>\n<p>Research commissioned by the Department of Communications and the Arts about Australian small businesses&#8217; online security practices found that only two per cent of business operators reported that protecting their online business information was a priority.<\/p>\n<p>The research found that only a quarter of small businesses considered that there was a risk of having their electronic system held to ransom, with only 38 per cent considering phishing and scams a threat.<\/p>\n<p>While 60 per cent of businesses claim to be good at installing anti-virus software, only 48 per cent keep it up to date, the research additionally found.<\/p>\n<p>Stay Smart Online Week is running October 12-16.
