over 1 billion Android-based smartphones to ship in 2017, accounting for 2 out of 3 phones sold globally.&nbsp;<\/font><\/p>\n<div><font size=\"2\"><br \/><\/font><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.333333015441895px;\">In fact, Androids share will double from 470 million shipments in 2012&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">, as phone&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">prices fall &#8220;dramatically.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">&#8220;<\/span><font size=\"2\"><br \/><\/font><\/p>\n<div style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\n<div style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Overall 1.5 billion smartphones will ship&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">in 2017<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">, accounting for 3 in 4 mobiles sold,&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Canalys predicts,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">&nbsp;and this phenomenal g<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">rowth to be driven by Androids, made by the likes of Samsung, HTC and Motorola.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Android arch rival Apple will suffer a fall from grace&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Canalys predicts,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">&nbsp;&#8211; to 14% share of the pie (from its current&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">20%)<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">&nbsp;&#8211; blamed on its lack of affordable devices, unlike Samsung, LG &nbsp;and Co.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: sans-serif; thanks to Nokia and Chinese brands.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">&#8216;Apple&#8217;s growth will be curtailed by the fact that momentum in the smart phone market is coming from the low end, and Apple is absent from this segment,&#8217; said Jessica Kwee, Canalys Analyst.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">&#8216;Android&#8217;s continued dominance is due to the scalability of the platform.<\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: sans-serif;
