{"id":89855,"date":"1999-12-31T00:24:00","date_gmt":"1999-12-30T13:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/smartoffice.com.au\/aggressive-vodafone-hits-rural-oz\/"},"modified":"1999-12-31T00:24:00","modified_gmt":"1999-12-30T13:24:00","slug":"aggressive-vodafone-hits-rural-oz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.strixdevelopment.net\/smartoffice\/1999\/12\/31\/aggressive-vodafone-hits-rural-oz\/","title":{"rendered":"Aggressive Vodafone Hits Rural OZ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Telco promises better regional coverage, trebling its network sites.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Vodafone says it is moving &#8220;aggressively&#8221; into its next phase of network building, announcing &#8220;significant regional coverage expansion,&#8221; switching on 1200 new 3G mobile network sites&nbsp;from July.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Voda move to treble the number of network sites,&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">comes after its network earned the name &#8216;Vodafail&#8217;, where service drops out became the norm for customers, many of whom fled the network in disgust.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div>The network expansion spanning thousands of square kilometres across the country, is part of its joint venture with Optus.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The telco promise &#8220;much better network experience&#8221; on major roads, highways, and regional areas.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Vodafone will contact its customers directly in July to detail the areas in which the network coverage will increase.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">However, Voda is the only of the &#8216;big 3&#8217; telcos <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smarthouse.com.au\/content_and_downloads\/PIMELPCY.aspx\">not to have souped up a 4G network<\/a> in operation but are promising it will go live next month.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">A Voda spokesperson would not be drawn on a date, when contacted by SmartHouse, but it&#8217;s looking like it won&#8217;t be for another few weeks yet, considering tomorrow is 01 June.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">&#8220;Our customers have been very clear what they want from us,&#8221; Vodafone&#8217;s CEO Bill Morrow said yesterday. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">&#8220;They want a reliable network experience where they live, work and holiday.&#8221;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">&#8220;Vodafone customers living in or visiting regional areas will notice much improved mobile coverage from July, as will those who are travelling for work or heading off on holidays.&#8221;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Vodafone has invested big in 3G and 3G+ network coverage, in the aftermath of Vodafail.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">The telco says it currently has its six million customers.<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Telco promises better regional coverage, trebling its network sites.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":41,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"gallery","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[28,25],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-89855","post","type-post","status-publish","format-gallery","hentry","category-archive","category-services","post_format-post-format-gallery"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
