{"id":89800,"date":"1999-12-31T00:33:00","date_gmt":"1999-12-30T13:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/smartoffice.com.au\/grays-gobbles-oo-com\/"},"modified":"1999-12-31T00:33:00","modified_gmt":"1999-12-30T13:33:00","slug":"grays-gobbles-oo-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.strixdevelopment.net\/smartoffice\/1999\/12\/31\/grays-gobbles-oo-com\/","title":{"rendered":"Grays Gobbles OO.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Online auction house nabs OO.com.au.<\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Grays acquisition of the South African owned oo.com.au is a move to consolidate the online business, a Grays spokesperson told SmartHouse<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The purchase makes Grays Australia who already own e-retailer brands Grays Online, Grays Outlet and Grays Escape, the largest e-commerce player in OZ with over $350m in combined turnover.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>It will now have access to a database of over 3 million customers. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Recent figures from NAB show Australia&#8217;s Internet sales grew 19% in February, although still accounts for just 6% of all<\/div>\n<div>retail sales but is set to soar in the coming years.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The two companies will keep their stand alone websites but introduce new categories and additional investment in the popular OO.com.au site. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<table style=\"\" align=\"Center\" border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"4\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"365\" height=\"295\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"365\" height=\"295\" src=\"http:\/\/news.smarthouse.com.au\/resources\/articleimages\/wjsbdfri_embeded_image_1.jpg\" border=\"0\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>oo.com.au is &#8220;incredibly strong&#8221; on electronics, homewares and toys while Grays is a big seller of wine, but flogs everything from pink diamonds to AV gear, often stock from companies gone into liquidation.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;We&#8217;re hoping some OO customers might try some wine, and there are products on OO that we might bring over.&#8221; the Grays rep said.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Business efficiencies and website enhancements will also provide customers with a better overall shopping experience.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The company will merge into one at the back end including warehousing, call centres, infrastructure, but the websites will not be rebranded.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Vendors are being contacted about the acquisition, announced today.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Rolf Krecklenberg, the current CEO who will continue to manage the business, said&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">&#8220;I am looking forward to expanding our range, entering new categories and leveraging the Grays infrastructure so that we can offer our customers even better value.
