{"id":85927,"date":"1999-12-31T00:53:00","date_gmt":"1999-12-30T13:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/smartoffice.com.au\/hp-considers-csc-acquisition\/"},"modified":"1999-12-31T00:53:00","modified_gmt":"1999-12-30T13:53:00","slug":"hp-considers-csc-acquisition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.strixdevelopment.net\/smartoffice\/1999\/12\/31\/hp-considers-csc-acquisition\/","title":{"rendered":"HP Considers CSC Acquisition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In what would be the biggest move new CEO Mark Hurd has made since taking the reigns at Hewlett-Packard in 2005, HP is said to be thinking of acquiring outsourcing giant CSC.<\/p>\n<p>According to this <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/mld\/mercurynews\/business\/technology\/13563268.htm?source=rss&amp;channel=mercurynews_technology\">report<\/font><\/a>, the company has held talks with The Blackstone Group with a view to jointly acquire the troubled oustsourcer.<\/font><\/p>\n<p>The Blackstone Group is a private equity investment company based in New York.<\/font>&nbsp;Any deal would cost multiple billions, but despite the talks being described as &#8220;preliminary&#8221; by the original story in the Wall Street Journal, shares in CSC reportedly jumped almost 8 per cent on the news. Meanwhile HP shares fell.<\/font><\/p>\n<p>The deal would see HP initially take only a minor position with a view to buying out Blackstone&#8217;s share at a later date.
