Linksys has unveiled the SPA8000, an IP Telephony Gateway, which the company claims to have eight RJ-11 FXS ports, allowing users to connect analogue telephones to IP-based data networks.

The device also has one 10/100Base-T RJ-45 Ethernet interface to connect to a router or multi-layer switch and includes a single multi-port RJ-21 50-pin connector offering an alternative connection choice when deploying the gateway in varied environments. It can also be remotely provisioned and supports dynamic, in-service software upgrades, the company says.

The SPA8000 is ideally suited for use in business and consumer VoIP service offerings including call centers and multi-dwelling environments. The SPA8000 not only delivers voice communication in diverse network conditions, it is also interoperable with common telephony equipment like voicemail, fax, PBX and interactive voice response systems.

The SPA8000 is available now through the Express Data, Ingram Micro, LAN Systems and Multimedia Technology with an RRP of $399.95
