Telstra Revolutionises Telco With New Retail Concept

The public will now be able to visit a new interactive Telstra store to learn how to use the features of their Telstra Next G mobile phone, to network their Xbox with a Bigpond wireless connection, or to set-up Foxtel and Bigpond TV in their loungeroom, through a new retail concept for the telecommunications provider which the company hopes will revolutionise the way consumers experience new technology.Telstra this morning held a press briefing to mark the official opening of its new flagship store, called T[life], located on George Street in the centre of Sydney. The “unique concept store” was designed as a state-of-the-art environment to provide customers with the opportunity to use and experience the brand’s range of products and services.

The store spans two levels, with the floor level measuring 300m2 and the first floor 550m2, making it Telstra’s largest retail outlet yet at around five times the size of an average store from the brand.

The shop uses a huge 30,000 metres of data cabling to connect its custom-made backend audio visual equipment.

T[life] will be open seven days a week and includes a cafe and three designated retail areas – Connect, Organise and Entertain. The ground floor also features a ‘jukebox-style’ Ringtone Bar which enables customers to search and personalise their ringtone.

One-on-one consultations can be booked with experts in-store, while a 40-seat auditorium offers specialty seminars for customers and business-users.

“It’s one of the most compelling retail experiences in the world,” said Telstra CEO, Sol Trujillo, at today’s launch.

“It’s all about the customer, about providing technology to our customers and the benefit the technology and capabilities can bring.”

Classed as a new wave of growth for Telstra, Trujillo believes that the unique retail experience is the “way forward” for not only his brand but also for the entire industry.

“We are the pioneers,” he said.
